Serving the Macarthurs

May 2022

Storytelling through Scrolling
With a focus on portability and accessibility, Serving the Macarthurs is an interactive, mobile-friendly website designed to enhance the visitor's on-site experience of Elizabeth Farm, a historic estate in Sydney. All the interactions on this website can easily be triggered by scrolling.

Through an ephemeral visual style, the website transports us back to the 1800s. Scrolling deeper into the past, visitors can learn how contrasting life was through the lives of Thomas Blake, the cook, and James Butler, the butler, who were active figures in the household.
